I was surprised I ended up finishing this book... the first part of it is slow, but still interesting. Around the middle of the book, something 'clicked' and I read a little faster, eager to see what happened with James.

James is a loner/anti-social... I could relate to this, I kept to myself alot (not the way James does, but I didn't care for the company of most of my peers) and agreed with some of his thinking. I don't know if we would've been friends or not, but we have gotten along fairly well.

His family is... dysfunctional, but oddly charming at times. His Nanette was my favorite, sweet and classy lady :).

I normally suck at leaving reviews but I'll give this a shot ;) hehe

The description intrigued me right away, I'm a big fan of crime fiction (henning mankell, james patterson among my top favorites)..

I really enjoyed this:) NP pulled me in right from the first few paragraphs.. she paints an excellent atmosphere in your head, it felt like I was walking in everyone's shoes and getting glimpses into their mindset/lives...

Very hard to put down after page 150... carve out some time for this one hehe

Some books start out... not 'slow' but 'steady' i like to say... they build up the world and introduce you to/let you get to know the characters, drawing you in slowly before the action gets going..

There's a quote here that describes what I mean better:
"My books have are not plot driven...I count on the characters to drive the story, so I have to know who they are and what they are about before the story can really get going. And that requires a kind of patient listening to them" - Eleanor Morse
