Fallen ~ Evanescence
The first time I was aware Evanescence was their video to Bring Me To Life. I admit I was put off initially by the rap in it thinking it was new metal etc. Someone lent me the album the other day and how wrong could I be. It is a fantastic album. They have a unique gothic sound. Amy Lee's lead vocals works brilliantly with the hard edge guitars. I would say it's a bit like a strange brew between The Corrs and the Sisters of Mercy. I can see similarities to Linking Park on the high tempo songs but also similarities with All Above Eve on the slower ones.

Some great tracks here like "Edge of a broken heart", "I want you to rock me" and "Cryin". It's the sort of stuff you would expect to hear on American rock radio.
Hell, but I like it. Let's face it - it's pop music but a bit rockier.

Good old David Coverdale hit the big time with this. At the time I though that this was fantastic but age has mellowed me. A few of the songs are previous albums but were remixed to be more heavier. In the early 80s Whitesnake used to be a blues/rock and roll band, this album saw them become stadium rock akin to Bon Jovi and Def Leppard but somehow more classier. Mostly great tracks - Here I go Again is a classic (n.b this is the album version not the radio mix single that was released).
