4.0 out of 5 stars Deja Vu, 12 Aug 2011
An enjoyable read, as all Candace Camp books are, except for the fact that the opening is an exact (and I do mean exact) replica of Georgette Heyer's A Convenient Marriage. For the first three chapters I had the continual feeling that this was a book I'd read before.

I'm charitably assuming that this is an homage rather than a plagiarism, but even so I do wish Candace Camp had come up with her own opening.
God Has A Plan For Us All ~ Angtoria
5.0 out of 5 stars Really good stuff, 26 Nov 2007
I bought this solely because I love Sarah Jezebel Deva's vocals on the Cradle of Filth albums. It took a couple of plays (not more than that) to get into, but this is some strong, striking stuff. Like another reviewer said there's some inconsistency in quality, but in my view that's because some of the tracks are so bloody *excellent*.

Personal favourites are "Deity of Disgust" and "Confide in Me".

If you like Within Temptation then this is right down your alley, albeit darker and edgier. If you're coming from a Nightwish direction then you're in for a very pleasant surprise. If you're a Filth fan then you already know that you're in for something great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 30 Aug 2006
I'm a big Daniel Lanois fan and have his other three albums. I loved Acadie, liked Wynona and was totally blown away by Shine, so it made sense to add this one to my collection.

Imagine my disappointment when I got it in my hot little hands and discovered that it was an entirely instrumental album. All twelve tracks are pretty, but essentially background music.

If that's what you like then you're going to love this one, but if you listen to Lanois for "Jolie Louise", "The Collection of Marie Claire" and "Shine" then you're in for a massive disappointment.
