4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Mystery, 26 Feb 2013
Tethers has so many of the elements I enjoy in any book; adventure, mystery, friendship - and all set against the historical backdrop in the Victorian era. Karl and his friend Esther dragged me along in their wake and I found myself pushing aside other things to pick up the Kindle and read another few pages. The banter between the two made me smile; Esther is written as a partner in crime rather than a winsome female archetype and this is what I enjoyed most about Tethers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Novella, 28 Nov 2012
Shane Jones is a writer I will be keeping tabs on - I enjoyed Light Boxes immensely. A short read at only 90 minutes (including tea break) but a compelling one. Brilliant premise - crammed with all the metaphor you would imagine in a fable and yet so creatively presented. Atmospheric without being drenched in adjectives, I liked the gentle description - that so much could be left to the interpretation of the reader. It gave my imagination a workout and raised questions long after I had turned the final page.

Switch was such a breath of fresh air - a programme with all female leads, set here in the UK - added bonus being a touch of magic thrown in. I looked forward to catching each episode on ITV and I hope there will be a second series next year! Admittedly Switch won't win a BAFTA any time soon, but the easy chemistry of the four witches who are both flatmates and members of their own coven was a pleasure to watch. Lighthearted in the main and did not take itself too seriously!
