The author of this book is a self-professed Utilitarian, but I had to wade through pages of biased tripe until finding that out on page 341. He sympathises with the "inner city thug" and says that "you would have been him had you been born in the same circumstances." Very patronising to people who have risen above such circumstances! Also that the "hatred and revulsion that send people to jail and to the gallows...are without intellectual foundation." and that "the suffering inflicted on wrongdoers is just as sad as the suffering of everyone else."
