Some great poems in here; wonderful use of shape and structure. 'In the beginning' is a particular highlight. We compared this to e e cummings in our GCSE literature preparation and the class response is "moving, thought-provoking and Rexy"

With the explosion of media (24hr news, YouTube et al) through which we can see the realities of war from the comfort of our own sofas, I feel this collection provides an ideal peek into soldiers' true feelings. The poems in this anthology vary in context and persona, but they all represent to us an internal war - a conflict of emotion in service personnel and those close to them.
I believe this book provides an ideal companion to the war poetry in our literary canon; many of the featured poems display similar sentiments to the famed poets of World War One, presented in a contemporary context.
