What a story. What a picture. What women. This book was a proper yarn. Telling tales of derring-do and the women that dared. It is also has an entwined love story of a love that endured through passion and one which grew from caring and kindness. The main characters aren't instantly likeable, you have to grow with them. The image of Penarth and the surrounding area, including the Bristol channel were very familiar to me as I live close to this area and visit often. The whole package that this book delivers is great. I think if you read it you'll love it....even just a bit.

The covered looked a bit Charlie's Angels - which is fine. I'm a fan. (Sabrina Duncan - Kate Jackson was an important part of my growing up....ahem...). So I gave the book a spin and am so glad that I did. Told over a period of years from the near future back to the 60s and 70s, showing how gay women had been perceived and how they were treated....to a time when they found their voice. The main characters are well-rounded and interesting. The flashbacks helped to build the backgrounds and help you understand the decisions made. It was a really well written book and I would read more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars I bit of a romp, 19 May 2013
This book was so different to anything I'd read before, not better, but different. I know very little of the environment the women moved to, or what was expected of them, but I did love the beautiful way the author painted a picture of the landscape and unforgiving territory. I am also a sucker for people taking a gamble - isn't that what life is all about? If you want a good old fashioned romantic romp then give this a go. It's worth it.
