This book is well written and has some intriguing characters in it, as well as an interesting premise. I did find it difficult to relate to the main character, and couldn't quite wrap my head around her reasons for acting the way she does, or indeed the technicalities of the life she falls into. This is not to say the book is not good - it is well paced, has some good descriptions and some fine characters. Ella's character however is engaging and very interesting, while her situation and journey keep you reading to find out, firstly what happens, but also how she handles it all as a deaf, female entrepreneur. I thought that aspect of the novel was handled extremely well, and Lee did a wonderful job of portraying a character with a disability that is very little understood by the majority of people, who are not themselves deaf, and have nobody in their lives who is.

The romance itself is a classic tale, with two obvious love interests from the start, one of whom Ella initially engages in… Read more
