Some interesting points raised. Particularily about the top heavy nature of HMGs forces. But skips conveniently over the political issues at the time which were forcing the Generals' hands. Comes across at times as an in-service rivalry which detracts from the argument. Armies are there for war fighting - Like it or not. How the author thinks the TA can backfill the regular army with specialists in counterinsurgency is also skipped over. Disappointing. Fiasco by Thomas Ricks its not.
