I'm a system administrator, which means that I administer systems. Most of them run some version or another of UNIX, or.. er.. similiar operating systems that aren't allowed to be called UNIX for trademark reasons. Get my drift?

After the bad press that Eureka's first DVD release of Metropolis received, I thought I'd wait to see if a different version of the film would get released. And the good news is that one has. The even better news is that this time, Eureka have released the new digitally restored and reassembled version from Transit Films and the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau Stiftung among many others. The restoration has involved a massive effort to trace all available footage that remains from the various cuts of the film which survive, including an original camera negative, and all the available material has been vastly cleaned up and reassembled into as close an approximation as possible to the version shown… Read more

I haven't played all the way through yet as I've rather lost heart with this game. It's very good, don't get me wrong - the graphics are stuffed full of good old-fashioned Infinity Engine goodness and the rules are, sensibly, now D&D 3rd Edition compliant. The plot is engaging, the action is heroic, so what's the problem?
Battles. There are too many battles. The Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale series offer some excellent roleplaying, but it seems that ID2 has taken a leaf out of the Dungeon Siege guide to game design and involves battle after battle with not much chance for roleplaying.
