While I do love action films, once in a while I prefer something a bit quieter. A film where you have to focus, and character development and plot trump stuff blowing up. Frost/Nixon and Inside Man are 2 of my favourite films. Theoretically then, I should've loved this one.

I've never been a fan of Tarantino. Pulp Fiction is the only film he's done that I really enjoyed. I thought Inglorious Basterds was good, but not exceptional. I hated the Killbills.

This film was a mixed bag for me. There are some things I really liked in this film. I think the locations are beautiful, and although it does take a while to get going once it's in full motion it is a good fun film to watch. The actors all do a great job and (if he hasn't already), I hope Leonardo wins an Oscar soon. He steals every scene he's in here. He is the standout actor in this film. I think it had a good premise as well: a blaxploitation crossed with a western is an intriguing idea, and I… Read more
