I just loved this book. And I definitely don't hold with simpering, useless female characters, so I certainly didn't read the main character, Alex, that way at all. Sure, she had quite a few insecurities, but who doesn't? She's written as a woman who is very comfortable with her professional life (she's the new harbormaster) but who has had her personal life turned upside down. She lands in a tiny Cornish sea village and is soon intertwined with the local assortment of characters. Longtime fans and new readers alike will love the latest from Trisha Ashley. Her trademark humor shines through in this touching story of a young mother who sets her London life aside to care for her ill young daughter. The book is also filled with Ashley's trademark FOOD, including recipes at the back! Featuring the odd - yet lovable - inhabitants of Sticklepond, Wish Upon a Star spins a tale of love, family and growth. You'll find yourself thinking Cally, Stella, Jago and everyone else long after you've finished the book.

Welcome (back) to Sticklepond! The action in Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues happens in the delightful village of Sticklepond, home of characters from many of Trisha Ashley's previous books. Ah! If only Sticklepond existed in real life! But since it doesn't, we can inhabit it in our imagination through Ashley's delightful books. Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues centers on Tansy, taking time out from a bad relationship to care for her aging Aunt Nan. Tansy also finds herself taking on the family shoe shop, despite a successful career as a children's book author. The village eccentrics and favorites all make appearances - Hebe, Seth, Raffy, Chloe, and Zillah to name a few. (But, you need… Read more
