1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 27 Sep 2013
I'm a big Neil Gaiman and normally recommend him to everyone. I really hope that if anyone should listen to me that they won't pick this book first! I wondered for a large part whether it was actually supposed to be a kids' book & I hadn't realised. The notes at the end say that it was originally supposed to have only been a short story. I think he would have been much better keeping it at that. As it happens, it now feels like they've printed a short story in massive print just so that they can pretend it's a novel. Really not impressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy read & enjoyable, 2 July 2013
I read this in a couple of days - it's nicely written & keeps you interested in what exactly is going on & what is going to happen. I'd recommend it both for young adults or adults.

Feel like I've totally missed the point of this book judging by the other reviews. I read it in just a few hours so it's a very easy book to read, but I didn't notice any funny moments that the other reviewers refer to. There was no depth to any of the characters or their relationships or to the story in general. Much of the book was just the exact same things being repeated over & over again. The ending then was very sudden & seemed to be intended to just tie up all loose ends as quickly as possible, but I was left wondering what exactly was going on....
