The Diet Delusion by Gary Taubes
The Diet Delusion by Gary Taubes
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I wanted to read more about the so-called "carbohydrate hypothesis", and this book seemed to be getting the best reviews, so in I went.

What I got was an incredibly comprehensive study of the last century's worth of research on the health effects of dietary fat and carbohydrate. The amount of work that Taubes put into this is quite astonishing. It treads the line between popular science book and text book, without ever straying too far into one or the other.

The book is split into 3 parts. The first part covers the hypothesis that dietary fat is the cause of coronary heart disease and obesity, the… Read more
4.0 out of 5 stars Snug fit, good quality, folding stand a bit precarious, 26 July 2012
After 2 minutes of playing with it, first impressions are good. Fits the Nexus 7 like a glove, and holds it in place with a snug Velcro fastener. The magnetic catch works as advertised, turning the screen on and off reliably.

The folding stand is a bit unconvincing, though, being a bit precarious when sitting up at a steep angle. The folded front flap attaches magnetically to the back, though, which is a nice touch, it's just that the whole assembly doesn't really lie flush with the surface, and wobbles a bit. Good enough to stand up, though, and hopefully won't fall over on a bumpy train or plane journey.

I was very happy with this case at first. It fits my Canon S100 very well (snug but not too tight), it has a useful shoulder strap, and the velcro clasp holds things well.

However, after a few days of use, the velcro started detaching from the body of the case, and will probably come off altogether pretty soon, rendering the velcro clasp, and the case, useless.
