It looked promising. The review quotes sounded good. However, ultimately it was not very believable for me and I was skipping quite a lot towards the end, especially the phrase written consecutively over several pages. It began well but sort of faded out and I felt relieved the little girl was taken into safety.

Highly enjoyable. Had to read it in two sittings. Loved the plot development and cases. More substantial than No 12. Perhaps Clovis needed a surer excuse for visiting them for credibility but was not too bothered as it was a great twist to have him involved. Lovely book.

Having loved all 11 books before this one in the series I too was a little disappointed by this one. Dare I say it - it felt a little lazy compared to the structure and content of the others, with thin plot lines. You really knew what was coming - the shoes for example, and it became a little predictable, which to be honest the others have been far from being. I had had enough of the little white van plot line in the last book so I was a bit taken aback to have it again in this book. And what has happened to the children? It really needs more actual detective plot lines to sustain interest or some good detail about the long anticipated wedding and it had neither. I will read the next one… Read more
