Flick The V's is a departure from the sound of KC Rules OK and Bombshell. Whilst these albums showed how great a songwriter he is, this new collection of songs highlight his more experimental side.
There are still plenty of gorgeous songs on here. Not least "Camels Swapped For Wives" a simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting song about the effects of mental illness on the whole family. It is beautiful and sang from experience. The leading single "Coast On By" (co-written by Steve Mason) is as catchy as anything he's done before. This album is great. An array of catchy little pop songs. Song of them uplifting, some of them rocking, some of them heartbreaking. And I don't understand a word of it.
This is the latest album from the greatest songsmith from Wales. It's all in Welsh but don't let that put you off. (Although,if you're the type to be put off by something like that then go away)
My album of the year for 2007. Outstanding.
