All great directors drop the ball from time to time. Brothers Grimm by Terry Gilliam, Alexander by Stone, Bonfire of the Vanities by De Palma not to mention Ridley Scott's collapse of recent times. Like most paths that lead to legendary status, there will be stumbles along the way. I have no doubts what so ever that Aronofsky will elevate again and in 25- 50 years will be talked about amongst the greats. Black Swan, Requeim for a Dream, The Wrestler and The Fountain were all superb after all, expectations too high perhaps?
