I hope I don't give too many spoilers away with this review, I'll try to be good. Basically my problem with this book is that you had no idea who was the 'goodie' and who wasn't. Everyone seemed equally untrustworthy. Because of this, I found it difficult to get too involved in the book because I wasn't worried when anyone was in danger, as I didn't really know if they deserved to be or not.

Although, I think the book was supposed to be like an account of actual events rather than a story, to make you think: "this could actually happen. Did it..?"

However, it is indisputably a good piece of writing, so I would recommend it anyway. If not for pure entertainment,… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 15 April 2013
I loved this, because surprisingly I hadn't read anything with that sort of storyline before; it wasn't as predictable as other sic-fi novels I had read, so that made it a cut above the rest. Another thing I enjoyed about the book was that it was interesting to see how they (19th Century folk) thought about Mars, because today we know more or less what is there, but back then they didn't, so I loved the sense of how the universe seemed so much smaller to them than it does to us, and somehow more exciting.
The Rise of Nine (Lorien Legacies 3) by Pittacus Lore
I loved I am Number Four when I read it, so I read the rest, and while they haven't been as good as the first one, I still think they are totally worth reading, that is why I gave them 5 stars; its a good book, but don't expect it to be better than the first (in my opinion).
