If you like Thackeray, then you should enjoy this. I found it had the same tone as his other novels that I have read - Barry Lyndon, History of Pendennis and Vanity Fair. A very enjoyable read. The author exposes the pomposity and hypocrisy in his characters whilst still keeping them sympathetic.

REVIEW OF US R1 DVD
Very good acting, and a well paced interesting murder/court room drama. Picture quiality is good.

POSSIBLE SPOILER IN FOLLOWING TEXT:
Just a small point - I am sure when I saw this on UK TV many years ago it contained a scene missing from the DVD; this shows the 2 leads in their car discussing their intended victim. Only a small omission but it was quite a memorable chilling scene.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good in parts, 25 Jun 2012
This is the first Ramsey Campbell novel I have read. Whilst I found many of the individual scenes interesting, finishing the novel was a bit of a chore. The main problem for me was the pacing which seemed too slow. That said the story had a enough good ideas and some genuinely creepy imagery, I would consider reading some of his short stories.
