Vsop Quintet ~ Herbie Hancock
Vsop Quintet ~ Herbie Hancock
This is a classic: recorded live in 1977, this one included Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard. Whilst all five of them were experimenting with jazz rock and fusion at the time, this is an all-acoustic set.

There is some fantastically intricate and stimulating music. Sounds mostly like Miles Daivis late 60s quintet. It was quite popular at the time, especially amongst the jazz fans who were disillusioned by fusion. t can be argued that it paved the way for the revival of acoustic jazz in the early 80s.

At the time of writing this is the cheapest Homeplug pair in the market.

Easy to set up and very reliable. The product description states that it can transmit up to a distance of 300 m. I previously could not get wireless broadband coverage into my garden office; this pair of TP Links has done the job perfectly.

Please note that this comes with 2 ethernet cables (1 m length) so no need to buy separate cables ( i did!).

1. All 4 titles in this package were recorded in the Norman Granz stable of labels (Clef / Norgran / Verve) between 1951 and 1955.

2. You can currently find this music in ridiculously priced Japanese issues only.

3. The sound does justice to the music (better than some earlier AVID reissues).

4. The man himself is a joy to my ears: Johnny Hodges had THE most beatiful sound on the alto horn ever.

Basically AVID gives you the opportunity to obtain a good chunck of music which… Read more
