An excellent text, clear & understandable, even if one's science or biochemistry is rusty.

Illustrations are basic, but adequate. Photographs could be better (white walls should be white -- poor exposure values!)

I fail to see how anyone could not see almost immediate results with HIT. However, it is essential to keep a WRITTEN record of each session. If one does so, the evidence is there, in black & white: increased reps or weight or TUL (time under load).

I use a simple, free stopwatch phone app with large figures which I place on the floor nearby, on top of a sweater, so I can have a good idea of my rate of movement. After starting the clock, I set… Read more

Excellent value, good instruction for different styles, comprehensive, good photographs, good DVD, many exercises leading to "Milestone Pieces", BUT as with all books/DVDs, reading the book alone will not make you a good guitarist! It's all about practice, practice, practice - and still more practice, steadily working through the lessons!

I'm working through this book consecutively, just to try all the exercises once. I reckon there are 64,000 lessons in this book, if one uses it as suggested i.e. randomly opening a page in each section.
It's true that some of the exercises are difficult - sometimes I can hardly reach the Beginner's minimum level, but others I find very easy, managing low-Advanced level (I have been learning guitar for 6 months now). So, persevere and try everything, even if you only learn that there are some things which you'll need to work on.
