Deadly Engagement: A Georgian Historical Mystery (&hellip by Lucinda Brant
5.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerising, 5 July 2014

This is a totally outstanding novel, which takes us to the decadent, complicated French court well before the Revolution, with its convoluted protocol, feuds, alliances, etc and etc and to an Anglo French aristocrat the hero who eventually succumbs to the most amazing and determined and intelligent beauty. Lucinda Brant is a superb writer, and evokes an almost unimaginable society through amazing descriptions of costume, interiors, sheer glittering physicality. Unputdownable; the only adverse criticism is a clunking title which is in its vulgarity the only wrong note.
Dair Devil: A Georgian Historical Romance (Roxton &hellip by Lucinda Brant
The fourth book in a related series, opulently and superbly written, filled with detail, scholarship worn lightly, the prose delightful, even mesmerising, and the extremes of character, goodness mixed up with corruption, cruelty, ambition, passion, kindness --- a perfect and dazzling period romance. warmly recommended.
