This is a brilliant book. You don't have to read dictionaries or have a fixation about why where you live is called what it is to enjoy this book, but simply by flicking through its absorbing pages the richness and diversity of the areas you travel to/through/under/round every day become infinitely more interesting. This does, of course, preclude those not resident in London but you can visit - and you'll have heard of most entries. David Mills was interviewed on the radio recently and to add to the enjoyment his enthusiasm and passion for what is clearly a joy (even if it is his job) was extremely clear. If you want a CD to use, then you've found it.
Open a decent bottle and chill out, finding out whatever you think you need to, and let Glow Worm, You Always...., I've Got... etc etc - do most of the work for you.
This is so chilled and laid back groovy you cannot miss. (unless you want to). Kick in the Real Player, turn up the fire (or stir the old Tropical fish...gently) and realise it's falling into place.
The tunes have horns and harmonies, rhythm and feel, all that stuff those geezers 40 odd years ago shouldn't have known about, and absolutely the gubbins.
Buy it. And it's so damn cheap, if you don't like it, you're useless at chapping… Read more
