This is actually a book about the Veresov opening which is 1. e4 e5 then 2. Nc3 there are very few of these books and I was recommended this particular one by an FM. It is indeed a well written book and covers this opening in detail since it focuses just on this opening despite the rather vague title.
If you are looking to avoid all the latest theory in all the miriad black replys to 1.e4 then this is a good way to start playing d4 and avoiding a whole lot of new openings that start if you don't play this rather unusual knight move.
