2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 8 Jan 2009
Like many people have written, I was really looking forward to this book but I found it a pretty feebly written and not terribly engaging account of lost love across the years. I'm sure we were meant to get an impression of young men struggling with overbearing emotions but the way this was presented - in the case of Leo Deakin in particular - was cumbersome and somehow did not ring true. The style of writing was infantile at times, especially when it tried to be profound, and all in all this book lacked any real subtlety or depth.

5.0 out of 5 stars haunting and beautiful, 28 Nov 2006
This is by far and away my favourite Tom McRae album, full of soaring, anthemic and soulful tracks. Stand-out tracks for me include The Girl Who Falls Downstairs, How The West was Won and Border Song, but there are really few weak songs on this album. Certainly one of my top five. If you buy just one Tom McRae album, make it this one.

There are a couple of little niggles. Shuffle play on mine is sometimes a bit strange, with the same song reappearing every five or six songs. My battery cover also kept falling off. In fact, I don't know anyone with a Creative Zen Nano whose battery cover does not keep falling off.

On the whole though, this is a great little player for the price, certainly better than an… Read more
