'A Passion For Baking' is the first in what will hopefully become a successful line of cookery books from author and baker Joanne Wheatley. Jo's book hit the shelves with much praise and success just one year after she won the second series of the 'Great British Bake Off' (a fabulous BBC television programme that recently won a BAFTA and is due to air in August for its third series). Throughout the book Jo brings together tried-and-tested recipes passed down through the generations with those 'oh-so-classic' bakes we all love in a way that is intelligible to the everyday baker. It is this style of writing that instilled me with a sense of trust and confidence when following the great range… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars She did it again!, 10 July 2013

Love Death and Whiskey by Mr. Patrick O'Sullivan
Love Death and Whiskey by Mr. Patrick O'Sullivan
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book as a gift and I am glad I did. I'm not a lyricist but I do consider myself to be a musician of sorts. As I turned the pages of Paddy's book, melodies immediately jumped out at me as suiting the words well. Now to put those melodies down on paper of course.

The book covers a range of ideas or emotions and I already have a few favourites. I would definitely recommend this book to any musician looking to create his own music or simply to anyone who likes lyrics.
