Saw The Pierces doing a short set (Glorious) at Glastonbury and bought the album on the strength of that one song. This has often been a mistake in the past but not this time. The album is well structured, with toe-tapping hooks that make you want to listen again and again (which I have) and the harmonies are just superb. The constant references to 'love' can be a little irritating, but what they lack lyrically is compensated by the clever arrangements. Possibly not the most exciting album in the world, but for those who hanker for a gentler sound (Mamas and the Papas, Fleetwood Mac et al) I would be surprised if you are disappointed.
