The New Strategic Brand Management: Creating and S&hellip by Jean-NoŽl Kapferer
I wish I had read Kapferer at the beginning of my career. This book is simply brilliant as an introduction to the very basic concepts of brand management, but also as a simple and clear guide to the more complex areas of this discipline - such as brand extensions etc.

The examples though mainly FMCG are insightful, and the style is refreshingly honest and Gallic. I particularly like Kapferer's approach to brand platform definition and design. This thinking has helped me massively in my career building blue chip brands.

I don't agree with all his thinking, but overall what Kapferer gives is a different and clear thought leading perspective that is extremely helpful.
Differentiate or Die: Survival in Our Era of Kille&hellip by Jack Trout

Finding decent books on advertising and marketing that are contemporary is incredibly hard. Differentiate or Die is a solid piece of writing that offers real insights and the kind of clarity you used to get from large ad agencies before they forgot about content and focussed on form - mainly learning about how to use digital channels in a brand centric way.

The style is pithy and concise - like the concept. Everything is in bite sized chunks. There isn't much that is new in terms of thinking, but what makes this worth buying and reading is the examples of the application of this thinking on modern day brands.
A love supreme ~ John Coltrane
A love supreme ~ John Coltrane
I bought this album as an Amazon recommends from an earlier purchase of Kind of Blue. It is quite awesome in terms of simplicity and depth of sound. It is soulful. Like Mozart's Requiem, it is best heard in the night when you are wrung out after a days work. It will revitalise you. A must for anyone who likes music.
