No One Writes to the Colonel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
No One Writes to the Colonel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
1.0 out of 5 stars Really?? A classic??, 11 Jan 2013
Sorry but it's really not. The translation allows some of the language to become even more stale than Marquez has intended. I'm not sure if in Marquez's minds eye it was planned as a novella, or if he just became as bored with writing it as I was reading it. Chronicle of a death foretold is amazing, One hundred years of solitude a triumph and Death in the time of cholera a master class in written picture building but this is just dross which has been published because of who the author is. Beast of Bodmin Moor by Alan M. Kent
Beast of Bodmin Moor by Alan M. Kent
5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, 22 July 2012
Being residents of Bodmin Moor we think of ourselves more like Farmer Tregaskis than the other characters but my little boys (4 & 2) love this simple book. They love spotting the places we know and love the pictures of Tregeagle and Germoe! The Cornish translation is great, as far as my limited knowledge goes, and I could see the various themes discussed in this book being brilliant for garnering interest and introducing topics in primary school . Highly recommended.
Hama Star 62 Tripod with Carry Case by Hama
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Value!, 29 Dec 2011
This tripod has made me a very happy woman!

It is a very sturdy, solid build with a huge amount of adjustment possibilities, including landscape/portrait flip movement!

I can't believe how cheap it is for the quality, and it comes with a carry bag too!

Brilliant, if you want a tripod, get this one!
