The Cold Spot by Tom Piccirilli
The Cold Spot by Tom Piccirilli
4.0 out of 5 stars Hit the spot!, 29 Jun 2014
This was my first Piccirilli outing and I enjoyed every minute.

I hate crime novels that wear kid gloves. I want my crime novels to be an experience, to put the book down and feel like I've been smacked around. The Cold Spot was a thoroughly satisfying read.

Chase is a getaway driver. Raised by his grandfather who is a vicious, feared crook. After witnessing his dear granddad kill one of their own crew members, Chase decides to ride solo, doing what he does best. Fantastic stuff. Murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a dark and gritty world where the line dividing cops from criminals has blurred. It begins with two detectives murdering one of their own for reasons that soon become apparent. A seemingly perfect (despite the silly mistakes considering they are seasoned detectives) and justified crime. But it initiates the downward spiral of their lives by forces out of their control, deep into the Detroit underworld.

The acting from Mark Strong and Lennie James… Read more
