Brilliant psycho drama with an insane twist. Saramago is a master of the human Psyche. The book is written in long sentences and no word is unnecessary. There are two main characters and three more in the background who will suffer the consequences of the two. Tertuliano Masimo Afonso is a History teacher who tries to cheer his depression by watching a rented movie through the recommendation of a Math colleague. There he sees that an extra is as identical looking as he. This spirals an uncontrollable motion of events that are hard to imagine and even harder to digest. Well worth reading. It is a brilliant brilliant book!!!

Freud and his colleague Jung go to Manhattan as guest speakers and introduce to America the concept of psychology. He has been asked to look into a patient who suffers from a strong neurosis. By a twist of unfortunate events the patients father is murdered and Freud unwillingly is involved in solving the murder and attempting to heal his patient. It is an easy book to read and kind of humorous at times. Nothing surprising seams to happen though as the writer more or less gives away each persons intentions or next move by the way he portrays them. Easily forgettable but at the same time nice to see a well known figure like Freud thinking and acting accordingly.

When I received this gem from Amazon my hands were shaking with excitement and I was pleasantly awarded for it! I have read and re-read this book so many times its embarrassing. Whoever looks at it makes the same succulent sounds I did when I first opened its glossy, wonderful, colorful pages. The recipes are straight forward and the end result is fantastic. I highly recommend this beautiful book to the novice and the professional cook.
