In addition to many creative ideas for traditional topiary this excellent book introduces us to the Japanese arts of pruning pine trees to control their size in an attractive way. The shapes and techniques illustrated in the book should be of great help to all gardeners wishing to contain and display trees & shrubs in a pleasing and stimulating way. Tony J Carey

For most people this book sets out a very strong health case for shifting to a diet that is based largely on plant foods with the minimum of pre-processing before purchase.

However, having read the source books by Esselstyn and the Campbells, three qualifications are appropriate. These are:
* That meat & fish are badly over-demonised in the section "Food Facts" (pp 45-48) in a way that is quite unnecessarily alarmist, inaccurate and unbalanced. For example there is no current evidence that meat eating in Europe or the USA carries any meaningful risk of the 'mad cow' disease vCJD. Also there is no balancing reference in the section on the plant 'platter' of the parallel risks… Read more

Adult ADHD displays significant symptom differences compared to childhood ADHD which should be used in future diagnostic criteria. This is one of the most important findings of the research reported in this book.

This is not a book for the non-scientific reader. However, with one caveat, this publication can be strongly recommended as an essential addition to the bookshelves and libraries of all health professionals who work with adults who have, or might have, ADHD. The caveat is that it is not, as one might expect from the title, an overall review of scientific studies of adult ADHD.
