4.0 out of 5 stars A great debut, 30 Nov 2004
A brilliant debut from a duo who seem destined for great things. While their soul is indeed soul, there appears to be elements of country and folk music to their style, making them seperate to everyone else.
The album shows promise and long may it continue.

Mckay's debut album is just superb. At a time when the majority of r'n'b artists are just interested in the 'bling' side of the genre and not the music at all, it's good to see an soul artist who doesn't conform to that. Using Geoff Barrow as a producer might seem a weird choice but his beats suit her voice perfectly. A great start by a star in the making.

Brilliant album which has hints of a throwback to the Motown sound of the 60's. The partnership between McKay and Geoff Barrow from Portishead brings a very mature sound and a sound which is totally different to the bling bling RnB culture we have today.
This is never demostrated more than on the song 'Tell me over' which is the most uplifting song on the album. A real talent and let's hope we hear more from her in the not to distant future.
