Forget the need to have mournful music at your funeral. All this dirgeful stuff just is not the music to send off a loved one by. Deal with death joyfully, and hire the RIAS Kammerchor no matter what the cost.
This recording is apparently faultless; but, more than that, it has certain perfections, such as the clarity of the German, and the careful balance of choir and orchestra.
It is almost music to dance to, at times; and who would have known about J L Bach's prowess in this field, were it not for the judicial playing of excerpts on Radio 3?
But if you are past dancing, the next judicious step would be to make this the music to die for. Just hope you get to heaven!
