The Italian Chapel by Philip Paris
The Italian Chapel by Philip Paris
Quite an interesting little story, a novelisation based on reality. The writing is rather journalistic and the whole never totally springs to life, but I'm glad to have read it.
The Dance of Love by Angela Young
The Dance of Love by Angela Young
I enjoyed the early part of the book, the coming out balls and first meetings, but I was unconvinced by the major setup of the story and found that all the later plot points were really telegraphed. There was some excellent writing here, but overall I never felt pulled in. Try Rosamund Lehmann instead.
Letter To My Daughter by Maya Angelou
Letter To My Daughter by Maya Angelou
The chapters based on anecdotes from her own life are fascinating (I haven't read any of her other books) but her pearls of wisdom left me cold. Disappointing.
