5.0 out of 5 stars Pure delight, 14 May 2014
Imaginative, unfailing in its research, magnificently drawn. Barbara Stok's lines are pure and simple but say it all. Pure delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece., 11 Nov 2013
This book is nothing short of a masterpiece. Scrupulous scholarship combined with profound understanding and endearing humour make for a life-enhancing read. Not only a portrait of an unconventional marriage but also a sweeping record of an entire generation and a way of life long gone. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be better, 3 Mar 2013
I adore this writer and she excelles in this, her second-last book. Her writing here is consummate. It is funny and touching, hilarious and deeply moving all at once. If you enjoy Elizabeth Taylor's writing, this book is not to be missed,.
