The Girl Who Played With Fire [DVD] [2010] DVD ~ Noomi Rapace
5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT FILM, 5 Jan 2012
As with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, this film is an excellent representation of the Stieg Larsson book, and watching in Swedish with English subtitles was no problem - although it does mean you have to concentrate a bit! Thoroughly enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB, 19 Dec 2011
I watched this film in the original Swedish with English subtitles (apparently there is an English language voiceover option). It is an excellent production, mainly true to the original book. Both lead characters are well cast, extremely well-portrayed and give believable performances - Noomi Rapace is, as many have already said, particularly credible as Lisbeth Salander. The scenery and settings are great - very atmospheric and visually pleasing. I can't wait to watch the two sequels. I see the Hollywood version (soon to be released in cinemas) has excellent reviews, and I'll probably go and see it - but it's hard to see how it could be as good.

The use of modern cartography to tell the story, supported by the clear and well-written text, provides the reader with vivid images of the scenario and all the key issues surrounding each battle. Lipscombe carefully avoids championing the British forces at the expense of others, giving a clear and balanced account covering strengths and weaknesses of all involved nations and forces, as well as the political aspects of the campaign. This book is a fascinating read, of interest not only to military historians but also those with a general interest in history and… Read more
