Rosamunde Pilcher's Four Seasons - Boxed Set [DVD] DVD ~ Michael York
Only one criticism of this very enjoyable family saga. Julia (the grandmother) and Abby (the granddaughter) are physically a good pairing. Sadly, Charlotte (the mother), whilst a good actress, is physically miscast since she towers over both Julia and Abby by at least six inches and is stick thin whilst the other two have good womanly figures. This makes a mockery of comments like "you look like her" etc. Otherwise actors like Frank Finlay and Tom Conti make this one to watch.

It really could do with a proper proof reading by a decent editor. For example, plural nouns do not have an apostrophe, shore is not sure and timber is not the same as timbre. Kellie, the little girl seems to range in age between 10 (she's supposed to be 9) and twenty five depending on who she is talking to and she likes her mother except when she doesn't like her -- in chapter one she's a loving caring daughter but only a couple of chapters later she's complaining to a complete stranger that her mother wouldn't miss her if she wasn't there.

I'm still reading but it could be so much better.

The beginning of the story was great and the reader has some great characters introduced to them. There is huge potential to turn this into a great, page-turning romantic thriller but instead it just stops dead. The abusive husband who is apparently a driven, bullying man who will never give up trying to make his wife pay, gives up. The Mafia, whom we all know have long memories, just forget about someone in witness protection. The self torture that a man who realises he has put the woman he loves in danger after all and has missed the childhood of his only daughter isn't even touched on. So many missed opportunities and such a weak ending because of it.
