Southland has to be one of the most underrated tv shows ever. A brilliantly acted and written show providing a no-holds barred, unflinching and authentic look at modern day policing in one of the toughest areas of L.A., it was a cop drama that could stand shoulder to shoulder with likes of Hill Street Blues, Homicide: Life on the Street and even The Wire. Sadly though it was largely overlooked and while the fans it had were loyal and managed to save it from cancellation on more than one occasion their luck ran out here at season five. From director William Friedkin [The Exorcist, The French Connection] this is a slickly made , well acted, thought provoking and refreshingly intelligent dramatic thriller. Partly based on a true story it is set in the small town of Stockton, California and begins in the winter of 1986. Once arrested a police search of his home reveals evidence showing a disturbing obsession with death and violence. The District Attorney wants Reese to get the death penalty but to do so it will have to be proven that he was legally sane at… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The original lion king, 29 Jun 2011
I can remember watching this when I child in the 1980's and bought it mainly for nostalgic value, however it is still very entertaining. Orginally made back in 1965, it was the first animated Japanese series to be seen on American television. It follows the adventures of Kimba the White Lion, orphaned king of the jungle, as he keeps his home and friends safe from poachers and other threats. If you have ever seen the Disney film The Lion King, you will see here where they got a lot of their inspiartion. The animation is lovely and the theme song really gets stuck in your head. Well worth seeing if you have an interest in Japanse animation, this is also a charming series that can be enjoyed… Read more
