She Flew Bombers (She Built Ships During WW II) by Jeane Slone

I downloaded this for free and glad I did.
It tells the story of female American pilots who transported planes during world war two. This covers the training and way these women were treated by the army. Good story and not too technical in describing the planes and training. Easy to read and I loved the ending and how it summed up what happened to everyone after the war.
Good tale of female friendships and characters likeable and realistic

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings at times, 27 April 2012
This is the story of lil and her son and how they escape London after a series of events.
I enjoyed this book and finished it in a day as wanted to see how it would end.
The good points about this are it is easy to read and flows well.
My criticisms are that the part of the story on the titanic seems rushed and I had thought this would be a larger portion of the book. Also that I didn't feel much sympathy for the main character lil as she seemed to become quite greedy and mercenary as the story progressed and used other characters in order that she could get all the money for herself.
I have given it four stars as a review though as I would read other books by this… Read more
Hilda Hopkins, Murder, She Knit (Hilda Hopkins, Ma&hellip by Vivienne Fagan

This is about Hilda, the sweet old machine knitter hooked on murdering her lodgers (sorry Hilda - paying guests!). The book follows her on the run and trying to stay one step ahead of the police! The writing is good, funny and original. This is a short novel but I notice there are more books in the series so will be interesting to see how the saga continues.
I got this free on the kindle but will be buying the next instalment as I did really enjoy this.
