Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor - 50th Anniversa&hellip Blu-ray ~ Matt Smith

I absolutely loved THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR and was looking forward to owning it on blu ray. Watched it tonight and it appears the quality control folks were off having a tea break when the audio for this was being put together. It sounds fine via a 5.1 surround set up, but appalling via television stereo speakers. The best way I can describe it is that the music takes on a tinny, warbly effect that is very distracting. There's definitely a problem here that needs to be addressed. I've read of the same complaints reported elsewhere so hopefully people will let the BBC know and something will be done to get this issue sorted and replacement discs issued.

2.0 out of 5 stars Audio sync issues, 3 Mar 2012
Various reviews have surfaced online that report noticeable audio sync issues on both the blu ray and DVD copies in this set. I have cancelled my pre-order until such time that this issue is fixed and either a re-release happens or a replacement disc is announced. Very disappointing news for Hammer fans who have looked forward to a decent home video release of this film.

Unfortunately they sometimes appear before a character speaks and on occasion they appear and disappear so quickly that they are almost impossible to read properly unless you pause the movie to read them. Neither of these things occur on the US region free Blue Underground release of the film, which is the version I recommend if you're a serious fan of this film. There are fewer special features but the movie is what… Read more
