Battles in the North [VINYL] ~ Immortal

One of the most surprising Black metal releases of all time. Battles In the North has the shortes balck metal somngs I have ever heard. The intensity of the instruments on this are amazing! The drums are completely mental, curtosy of Abbath, and his vocals are again cold. The speed of the riffs is so fast that some respite is really needed, and on tracks like Blashyrkh, you really get the chill down the spine on some of these. There's even a solo by Abbath on this one.
If you ever buy anything from Immortal, you'll be happy, but this is the best.

Another fine release from Immortal. After the relatively mid-paced black metal of Diabolical FUllmoon Mysticism, Pure Holocaust is exactly that! The super fast black metal of Immortal started with this, but it was Battles In the North that really took them to the next level. The songs on here are really good. Even though Erik is meant to be the drummer for this, it was actually Abbath that did the drums. He managed to creats an excellent style which is used a lot for black metal, and is really good for the music.

Blizzard Beasts [VINYL] ~ Immortal

Immortal came from obscurity to my ears with this album. Apparently the worst of their albums, I was surprised to find that the riffs on this were of a high technical standard and still very catchy. I personally don't think that the reviews were right, and this is an excellent release by one of my alltime favourite bands. The mighty Mountains Of Might is my favourite immortal song, let alone on this album!! Others, including Battlefields and Blizzard Beasts are also excellent. I can't remember the times I've headbanged to Mountains... suffice to say that I want to cover that song moree then just about any other song, except for maybe Dead Shall RIse by Terrorizer...
