This sounds like a very smug headline like I am some barometer of what is good or not. This is not what I meant. Rather, I was surprised by how much I liked it and how it resonated with me. I like Scandinavian crime fiction and not so much Rankin etc. although the Black Book was fine. I think there us a certain pretension in British crime fiction which is absent from Scandinavian crime fiction. It is also absent from this book. The plot is ok, some things work better than others but it's the author's first crack at this genre so I am sure he will tighten things up over time. The Return Of The Dancing Master by Henning Mankell
5.0 out of 5 stars the best mankell novel, 17 April 2014
i have just reread this book after a few years and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. the story is quite a departure from the wallender series and the suspense is strong. mankell waits quite a long time before explanations are offered and the story is stronger for the delay.

mild spoiler***********it won't harm your enjoyment of the book

I do not think that anyone who has been to Scandinavia would doubt the existence of neo facism and this is tackled very well in the story. I do not know if it was my bad fortune to meet a skinhead in stockholm or if this is exceptional.

enjoy.

Very different type of thriller. I am currently about 60% through it and finding it very interesting. Amazon should wait a bit longer for feedback.
