Look Around You : Complete BBC Series 2 [DVD] DVD ~ Robert Popper

If you're looking for a re-hash of series 1 then you'll be sorely disappointed, but if you find the overall concept appealing (spoof of popular/educational science programmes) then there is enough to keep you amused in series 2.

And again. And...' approach. In short, some good ideas ruined by the lack of good script editing. If you like 'catchphrase' humour ('Suits you, Sir') I guess it might appeal, but for me the funny bits were too sparse to make me… Read more
The London Encyclopaedia (3rd Edition) by Christopher Hibbert

5 stars for this book as the previous edition gave a Londonophile many happy hours (was read cover to cover) and I haven't heard any complaints about the new edition.

However, 1 star for Amazon. This is not the first time I've bought hardback books as presents, only for them to arrive with damage (tears to slipcovers, serious denting etc). I didn't feel able to give the Amazon copy as a gift, given how much I knew it would be cherished, so I sold it on to someone who wouldn't mind the damage (life's too short to try retuning a book of that size just before Christmas) and bought a pristine copy from Foyles.

Amazon may be cheaper, but I won't use them again for expensive… Read more
