After reading a few of Laymon's books and reading up about Laymon, this was the one book of his that I was desperate to read.
If you don't know the story, it starts off very fast paced. Our main character Jody is disturbed one night during a sleepover by several maniacs dressed in human flesh, who decide to rampage through her best friends house, slaughtering and raping everyone in sight. Jody escapes the house with twelve year old Jack in tow and starts off what you think will be a cat & mouse chase between Jody, Jack and the group of killers. Drood by Dan Simmons starts off at breakneck speed. The novel is narrated by Wilkie Collins, writer, literature genius & the best friend of a certain Charles Dickens. So! Where to begin with this novel.

I hate writing negative reviews, but ladies & gents, this review has more negative than positive :(

The book starts off with our hero Eddie Hudson (Private Hudson anyone?) ;) on patrol in San Antonio Texas. Edd is a patrol officer with a wife and new born child waiting for him at home. One night, he receives an emergency call to go & inspect & from here it all kicks off! The zombie apocalypse has been unleashed. Why? We do not know. How? We do not know.
