A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving
A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving
5.0 out of 5 stars I miss him too ....., 27 Jun 2011
I've just finished this book, which I picked up from a charity shop 2 months ago. I've read several of Irving's novels, such as The Cider House Rules. This book is a masterpiece and Irving has created a character in Owen Meany that will stay with the reader for a long time. It's one of those books where you actually miss the characters as soon as you finish the last page.

You don't need to write 500 words to review this book. And no, it is not 100 pages too long. Gripping, clever, wonderfully told. I bought my copy for 20p in a "Help for Heroes" charity event and it is the best 20p worth of novel I have ever spent!
Cosi Fan Tutti (Aurelio Zen 05) by Michael Dibdin

I am reading the Aurelio Zen novels in their chronological order, and enjoyed the first four much more than this. Michael Dibdin seemed at times more interested in impressing us with a) his knowledge of Naples and b) his knowledge of Italian than the plot, which was fairly daft. The other Zen novels were page-turners - this one irritated me, hence this review! Having said that, Zen is almost up there with Dismas Hardy (John Lescroart) and Arkady Renko (Martin Cruz Smith).
