The Collected Stories Of Arthur C. Clarke (GOLLANC&hellip by Arthur C. Clarke
5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff!!, 30 April 2013
Haven't put this down since buying it for my Kindle Fire. Great value for money, a great journey from the early beginnings of modern sci-fi up to relatively recently.

I found it astonishing that very little in this collection felt dated, considering how long ago the earliest stories were written. Especially charming were the White Hart stories. One can imagine them being made into a series of Twilight Zone type episodes by Ealing films in nostalgic black & white.

Cannot recommend this enough. Whether you're a Clarke completist, exploring Arthur C Clarke for the first time, or for that matter sci-fi per se, this is an excellent addition to anyone's collection. Would… Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Easy to fit, But!, 4 Feb 2013
This item is easy to fit, no doubt about it, but compromises the wonderful clarity and resolution of the Fire HD. Watching a HD video is less than satisfactory, it's like viewing the screen through an extremely fine gauze. This same effect is true for reading, it's very distracting and ruins the overall experience of the device. If you're looking for a screen protector, with zero degradation of your viewing/reading experience DO NOT! purchase this item. Mine's going straight in the bin, and I'll try another product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest, enjoyable., 22 Jan 2013
Just finished this on the way home from work. Ok. It's not " Nightdawn Trilogy" , or "Hyperion". But it is fast paced, highly entertaining, has good plot twists and like someone else has alluded to it moves along at a brisk old pace, somewhat lime a tv soap opera. Despite this, I found the characters to be very endearing and enjoyable.

This book is just the thing if you have limited time for good lengthy reading sessions, or you're picking this up after dedicating weeks of reading to something like Nightdawn, and just want a nice "come down" with something a tad more frothy and light.

Thoroughly enjoyed Mr Lanlonde's first Spinward book, and will definitely explore the… Read more
