Plastique [Explicit] Dahlia MP3 Download
Eight years ago some of us suspected that Dahlia would one day be appreciated with a cult adoration at the very least. Plastique, we hoped, stood to be the first of many musical statements from the New Yorker-adrift-in-Berlin. As it turned out, Plastique remains Dahlia's only album release to date. While not exactly the career blitzkrieg that it might have been, musically it has lost none of it's sexual potency and lyrical firepower. What's more, it hasn't dated a nanosecond either. Dahlia was always out of time anyway, but never out of synch. Plastique remains darker and edgier than any of its more commercially pliable contemporaries, and as such may yet have it's day. AC Marias was the name adopted for this one-off album project by filmmaker and photographer Angela Conway, best known for her work with many Mute artists and Maria McKee. The album centres on Angela's fragile but ethereal vocals, and musically she is supported by the likes of Wire's Bruce Gilbert. At the time of its release in 1989, what made such an impression were the videos for "Triby's Couch" and the title track. In the early days The Cult were simply one of the most exciting things out there. The production on their debut LP Dreamtime was somewhat timid compared to their stunning live performances, but they really hit the jackpot with their second album Love, still one of my favourite records of all time. For me they lost their way with Electric, although the record sounded pretty good, and it probably was time for a change in direction, the direction it steered them in was the one that led to Sonic Temple. That such a great band could make such a woefully uninteresting record is actually quite upsetting to me. "Sun King" was still a great opening track, I remember listening to it and being full of… Read more
