Yorkshire Dales Mountain Biking: The North Dales by Nick Cotton
I bought this as a companion to the South Dales guide and it certainly doesn't disappoint. It features more of the well described routes, ranging from short blasts to long "killers", all with nice Harvey maps and altitude profiles. Even after you've exhausted the 24 options on offer the links between nearby routes allow you to make up your own - with no need to pore over an OS map.

Alongside the routes some lovely photography provides great inspiration and tempts you to explore further, though I can't say the weather is always as good as depicted!

While I'd already done quite a bit of riding in the area this book revealed some great new gems. The maps are clear and the instructions come in at just the right level of detail, enough to get you round but not so much you spend hours reading through to figure out where you've got to.

As an added bonus it also turned out to be pretty water resistant, very handy when lost in the rain after not following (the admittedly clear) instructions very well.
