Heavenly Harmonies - Byrd and Tallis ~ Byrd
The mith of 'The Desert Island Disc' (CD or LP) is hard to answer and maybe it doesn't exist alone.

Particulary if I have to decide now I'll pick this as first choice, Gardiner Haendel Messiah and a Bach concert CD.

Many will desagree and will choose others and it's really extremelly difficult to make a choice.

That said, this CD is shurelly wisely produced.

It intorpolates 'The 09 tunes for Achbishop Matthew' by Thallis, with 9 'Cantione Sacrae' of Byrd, creating an incredible atmosfere and coherent shift with one another.

The McCreash (on a Archiv too) have a nice lead but the one-voice-per choral parts are covered by the strong sounds of the brasses and sacbuts and the use of a bit larger choir as in… Read more
